The four of us have met up, bikes loaded, under the Brooklyn bridge. We are off for coffee and to blue point hopefully by 4. More updates to come!

Bierkraft Info Seeking Mission

Where do we go for growler fills, beer tastings, and to purchase the finest and most eclectic variety of beers in Brooklyn?

BIERKRAFT

Luckily enough for us, Bierkraft is also a wealth of information about beers and the brewers that make them. On Thursday Sara and I sat down with Carl to talk about our biking route and the brewery stops along the way. Two hours later we walked away with three pages of scrawled notes on breweries and brew pubs from NYC to Minnesota to Colorado to Seattle. Carl told us about a brewery built in an old post office (hopefully a stop on day 3!), a pub that is raising the bar for pubs in VT, and he gave us tips on a few beers not to miss- if given the chance

Carl – we will be reporting back!

Thanks again!

Sara’s Sd farewell party

When it comes to drunken photos, you know what they say, better late than never!  So, as posted earlier, last friday was tracy and my last of work in the photo industry.  It was a weird day, to say the least but it ended well with many great beer and of course, MARGARITAS!

Take a look at the pics (video to come later!)

One especially cool gift (map that will be hung at Shoot Digital, postcard stamps, and Sd address labels).

American Beer

Last night 3 members of the Bike and Brew Crew went out to see what our trip might have looked like if we were sane and did this cross country brewery tour by car instead of by bike! A fun documentary by Paul Kermizian (cousin of bike and brewer Tracy’s podiatrist… small world!) called American Beer. Totally worth checking out. Of course, it will be interesting to compare some of his craft brewery visits in 2004 to our own- 5 years later. Sam Calagione looked so young!

At the event we ran into some staples of the bike and brew new york scene, including a great friend of Anders’, who you may have seen in Columbia Twosome, at the Bicycle Film Festival this year. Also spotted, one of Sara’s favorite New Yorkers, Cathy Erway, of Not Eating Out In New York . This town is so filled with awesome events, it will be a little hard to pedal away….

no turning back now

greetings bike and brew fans!

Even though the ride starts in a week and a half, the adventure begins today for tracy and I, the last day of our full time jobs. Starting tomorrow our only responsibilities will be to bike and to brew! It feels a little strange, saying goodbye to my awesome job at shootdigital, where I’ve been for 6 years. Its going to be an emotional day, but I look forward to having more time update y’all on the ride, and to learn more about the craft of beer!

14 Days

Thanks everyone for your patience, we are mere days away from some major updates about our training rides, our team additions and what were are doing in these last few weeks before we leave. 14 days and counting until we leave for the bike and brew tour! Did I mention we’re excited?
